The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) was established in 1960 (1339 solar year) in accordance with the Monetary and Banking Act of Iran (MBAI). The four primary objectives of the CBI, as outlined in the MBAI, are: preserving the value of the national currency; maintaining the equilibrium of the balance of payments; promoting trade-related transactions; and improving the growth potential of the country. CBI is responsible for designing and executing monetary and credit policies while taking into account the overall economic policy of the nation.
